Art Shows in Our Sanctuary

Each month, our Artarian team arranges for one or more local artists to display their works in our Sanctuary.  See the Artarians Biography Manual in the stairway for bios and more info about all of our featured artists.

"Then the Sun Came Out" by Riitta Peirone

"Then the Sun Came Out" by Riitta Peirone

Riitta Peirone paints in oils, acrylic and watercolours and is inspired by the scenery on the North Shore.  One of herfavourite hikes is along the Capilano Trail from her house to the Fish Hatchery. During the summer, the changing light and colours reflected on the water make it a painting delight. Riitta enjoys plein air painting and sketching, which helps her to connect with nature.

Artists from the Three Brushes Studio & Gallery will display their work during November, including:

  • Sylvia Bayley works in an intuitive and instinctive way using acrylic paints and various mediums to create texture and interest.  She commences with no preconceived ideas as to the final creation, but simply embarks on a journey with the canvas and paints.

  • Maureen Coles

  • Ann Enyon

  • Danyne Johnston

  • Marguerite Mahy is Chair of the Artarians Committee, and member of both the North Shore Artists Guild and the FCA. She paints in acrylics but also enjoys watercolour painting “en plain air” in the summer. Her acrylic paintings are semi-abstract in vivid colours; watercolours are more subtle and often enhanced with ink. She has exhibited widely on the North Shore.

  • Shae Salmon has a background in photography, so uses her own images in her mixed media pieces. With an acrylic base, and through textural layers and translucent colour, Shae builds on her images, creating an abstract world to captivate the viewer's imagination.

In December, artists from the North Shore Unitarian Church will display their art in the Sanctuary. More info coming closer to that time.
